    Default failed my work medical

I was sent for a work medical 3 weeks gone friday after working for the company for 2 years gone march as i drive MHE reach truck and low level order pickers

i went in today to see them and i have failed the medical because im blind in my left eye (traumatic glaucoma) i had it removed Oct 08

so now i have to undergo having someone watch me driving around for a day them maybe another course even though im the only one in the factory that drives the reach that hasnt had an accident

I have also been driving reach trucks for the past 11 years with not 1 accident DDA come to mind if they start getting funny

Wonder if any of you remember the old 'time and motion' men with their clipboards following you around all day and noting and timing your every action.

Lol, yes, I do. On topic, I was trained as Forward Delivery and fork lift driver by the RAF after the previous driver was eye tested and found to be colour blind. As the signalls for whether it was clear or not to cross the runway were colour coded, he was replaced immediately. Yet he'd been doing the job for years, with no mistakes or problems.

Slighty off topic, I failed my first aid one once, on not rescuscitating the dummy properly. The doctor was railing at me, "that's you best friend there, had an electric shock, and he'll die - because YOU can't perform a simple task" Then the nurse came in, took the dummy, and said she'd been looking fot it, it was broken and the repair man was there...... no apology, just signed my sheet and left.

I wouldn't worry too much as long as the sight in your other eye is fine.

I'm a forklift instructor and I once trained an individual to drive a high level order picker who had a ½ arm amputation at the elbow.

He was better at driving the truck than the 2 other able bodied candidates.
