Default 1.9 CDTi 120 dramatic power loss.

On Thursday accelerating through 3000 rpm in 2nd it lost power so abruptly that things in the boot fell over and it went absolutely flat and won't rev much over 3000 rpm even off load.
Its a 1.9 CDTi 120, its runs smoothly on all 4 cylinders no misfire up nto 2500 rpm but there is no power, flat in 5th at 60 it shows 57 mpg and that's just about all it will manage. There is no exhaust smoke and I checked the EGR valve which is cleanish and seems free and just had Bayliss look at it and they say it is a leaking intercooler and stuck EGR valve.
There is no hissing from the Intercooler or turbo whine so surely this can't account for absolutely no power and the way it stutters over 2750 rpm and just won't rev?
It would account for no power below 2000 maybe but I have (some) torque below 2000 rpm.
    Any Ideas?

Having no response at all on here I figured no power except a bit of torque around 2000 rpm and won't rev over 3000 off load sounds like a seized turbo so I got a Quote of £ 752 by Skurrrays to supply and fit a new Turbo, "But you should have a diagnostic check first," they said.
Had diagnostic done by different dealer.
Result Low Boost pressure caused by split intercooler and EGR problems.
I only just cleaned the EGR Valve
This second so far un named dealer fitted new intercooler.
    No different.
    "We think the Turbo's seized."
That's what I told them in the first place, £470 ago.

Have you been through all the things listed in the two 'sticky' threads at the top of this section that are relevent to 'power loss' and 'problems'?

Yes, I read loads of threads, according to the dealer the intercooler pipes are collapsing and squeezing in when you try to rev it and its undrivable, I think we all now think the Turbo has seized, hopefully the exhaust side or I'll have well it will manage 60 on the flat, no warning lights, emission or otherwise, just no power, some torque around 1000 to 2000 but tailing off.
Most Threads are about a hole from 1000 to 2000 with some power when the turbo kicks in.
I'll start stripping it down tomorrow, any ideas where I can get a good deal on a recon Turbo for a 54 plate Vectra 1.9 CDTi 120, 8 valve.

Just a comment, rather than help... but everything 'post compressor' is under positive pressure (assuming a working turbo), so the dealer comment that the pipes are sucking flat simply defies any sense whatsoever.

However there is some sense if the turbo is doing nothing at all.

First thing to take off would be the compressor inlet pipe and see if the turbine spins freely or not. Good luck, fella!

I think the Turbo is seized solid, I'm trying to get to it now.
Only just realised the airflow meter measures air coming into the turbo, so it meters fuel for the air leaking as well as the air being used by the engine, hence black smoke, I haven't seen that anywhere else on line.

Yes it does! If a load of air is not getting to the engine, but the ECU thinks it is, then this will cause all sorts of problems... The ECU can probably compensate a bit from the manifold pressure sensor, but things like split intercoolers, hoses, etc. send the system generally haywire!

    Got these on Ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Opel-Astra...#ht_1106wt_990
Not cheap - trouble with getting a secondhand one is it might be as bad as the one your taking off - might be worth trying breakers and getting a s\hand one off a vehicle that has been damaged and written off - providing impact has not damaged engine - bit risky whichever way you go - Good Luck with it
