Had to do a 40 odd mile trip for work this morning and managed to average 33.4 mpg on the journey no motorway just all A roads. Managed to resist putting my foot down all the way here lol

I find that simply accelerating gently, as most commuters do, and driving at the speed limits on an open road or MW gives 33mpg [or more] on the computer.
Yea probably, I only usually do short journeys and have a heavy right foot so trip comp usually shows around 21mpg
i need some help i think some one has put lead in my trainers as i average between 16-19 around town i drive 2 mile to work and back everyday but at the end of the day if i was woried about fuel cost i would of bought a diesel but i didnt as i wanted a on my face every morning
I agree, only this time for me will be back to normal on way home lol
Cor these GSI's are really thirsty aren't they. Over the last 1000 miles i've averaged 25.7 mpg with only one little motorway jaunt to lakeside and back with is about 40 mile round trip and the rest around town in my mapped 2.8T.
is that working it out by the trip computer or by using a calulator as i did 700miles the other week trip computer says average of 32,5 or their abouts but when i did the math i was doing 26mpg thats 500 mile motorway and 200mile A roads
its just short journeys to work and back where i get 16-19 depends on traffic on blackpool front
Thats using me old pencil and paper lol. The trip wasn't far out though.
