    Default lack of power and shuddering

    hi guys i have an 03 plate vectra sri 2.2 the problem is that when in lower gears car has no power and shudders need to take the revs right up on each gear,even on high gears car has no power its not nippy in any gear at all for a 2.2,someone said to me the problem is the air flow meter,when he disconected my afm on my car the car kept running he said this should kill the engine but never any help would be great guys the car is currently running like a bag of crap.

    Disconnecting the MAF won't kill the engine, it'll revert to a basic map that doesn't make as much power and the engine may go into limp home mode with the management light on. The MAF can cause the car to behave like that though. It could also be a fueling issue. When was the fuel filter last changed? I don't think the older 2.2 engines suffered from dodgey fuel pumps - they only cropped up on the 2.2 direct engines but don't quote me on that.

    As above the fuel pump is nor a prob on the normal 2.2 do what the above says see what happens

    cheers guys i changed the fuel filter the other week think it was the original and put redex through as well do u think changing the airflow filter will be the problem because i thought all along it seems as if the fuel is not getting through properly.

    I'd ask in the regional forums on here if there is anyone near by that would let you swap the MAF over with a good working one from their car to test. The MAF sensors aren't cheap and buying a non Bosch/VX one can be a bit of a false economy - there's a lot of reports of them failing quicker and the car not running as well. If you've done the fuel filter then I would say the air intake side would be your next best bet.

    do u need to change the senors if ur replacing the airflow i was goin to buy a 2nd hand airflow meter from ebay but dont want to waste time and money i have read somewhere that vectras are prone to this shuddering and lack of power and cant be fixed that its in the computer and cant be sorted is this true.
