By the way, not only should sat navs not be left in the car, the mount shouldn't be on display and the mark left on the screen by the suction cup should be wiped off after each journey - standard police advice.

was about to say exactly what Jezzy said,... foolish leaving things like that in your car. The suction marks on the window are a good avert to thieving scumbag that there are electronic goodies inside for stealing.
