    Default Radio problems again!!

Thought I'd sorted my CDC40 reception problems as it's been fine since I checked the connections to the DAB roof unit but I now have another weird one.
DAB working fine, turn on the rear screen heater and radio shows no reception, turn heater off and radio comes back again?

    Vectra C 56 plate.

    Any ideas please?

OK quick update on this weird problem. Get in car first thing and radio/DAB fine UNTIL I start the car. DAB says no reception. Drive for around 5 minutes, turn engine off and back on again and DAB is fine for the rest of the day!!!!

I had a very similar problem on my old mk3 mondeo. It would only do it on weaker stations or strong stations in a weak signal area. I couldn't tell if it was the rear screen or the heated mirrors causing it. But to cut a long story short I did an ECU reset (battery disconnected for 30 mins, for another reason), and the problem totally dissappeared, never to return, which baffled me!!. Maybe chance or worth a try??

Maybe a bad earth? or a resistance issue with one of the elements corroded or broken? Worse in the wet or dry?

I would agree with the poor earth.
The amplifier may be losing it's power dueto something else drawing off the current to operate.

The golden rule of any electrical issue, is to pull the battery for 1/2 hour or so... this cures about 90% of electrical gremlins. (It is also free)

For owners of vehicles with half CAN radios, only disconnect the battery if you definately have the vehicle pass card with the audio and security codes on it.

Although from memory, it is almost always the Full CAN radios that play up.

It's quite odd that a battery pull can cure some of these odd type problems.....

Thanks guys, I'll give that a try over the weekend but the very odd thing is that the DAB roof is aerial is fed down the drivers side to the front whereas the heated rear screen comes from the REC in the boot on the passenger side!!
