    Default axle stand points

I dont have a trolley jack, but im gonna use the standard scissor jack just to get the car up on stands. I know there not great, but i dont have much choice at the moment, the car's undriveable until i get the pads and discs done.

My question is, i found the jack points (marked by arrows on the bottom trim) but where do i put the stands, been under the car twice but im still not 100% sure. Googled around and looked on here but i just want clarification as im not a mechanic, i dont know whats "sturdy" and what isnt.

I found this pic from duncan (i think it was )

Im guessing for the front, i stick the stands under that cylinder thing in the middle of the pic? Do i do the same on the back?

fantastic, just wasnt 100% sure so thought id check before i go cause any damage since i dont know what half of the stuff underneath that car are for :P.

Get the front done first then, hopefully its the same on the back and if not, someone will inform me where by the time ive done the fronts

    Cheers All

well just jacked it up, got it on stands, got the wheel off and some idiot has already rounded off one of the calliper bolts (the ones with the bunges over). So looks like im gonna have to take it to a garage to get that bolt removed anyway. Why is nothing ever simple

problem is i dont have a garage nor driveway, im having to work on the car park of the factory over the road. So i have no electrical power whatsoever, and i dont have a battery operated one. i may be able to bash a 8mm key into it, or cut the rubber bung off and try mole grips. But im just trying to find part numbers e.c.t. now as im gonna need even more parts

ha even better, no vauxhall garages are open til monday now. The parts departments closes between 1pm and 2pm.

how safe is it to do the other 3 wheels (pads and discs) then do the drivers side next saturday ? i know your supposed to change them in pairs but i need to be in work monday. Or should i only do the pads and leave the dsics til i can do them in pairs ?
