    Green wire
    speed
    1-0.00
    2-0.00
    3-12.03

    Gray
    1-12.03
    2-12.03
    3-12.03
    4-0.00

    blue
    1-0.00
    2-12.03
    3-0.00
    4-0.00

    blue and gray

    1-0.00
    2-0.00

the thing at the top isnt a resistor.......its a fuse.

It seems to me that the fuse blows because there's resistance from the motor, often cause by rain water getting in through the pollen filter because the drain is blocked. When mine went I gave the motor bearings a good soak with WD40 and it's been fine for 2 years. I had a lot of water come in at the time and I could feel that the motor wasn't running freely, so there's no point in replacing the resistor or fuse if the motor isn't free.

Yep - that was my reasoning too.

There's a thermal fuse at the top of the resistor pack so if the air in the duct gets too hot from the resistors (which slow the motor down by dissipating power as heat) then it breaks the connection in order to prevent damage to the plastic ducting and potentially fire breaking out.

So if the thermal fuse keeps blowing (ie only full fans speed works because it's unable to drop the voltage with the resistors) then you really should investigate why it's getting so hot.

The most obvious reason has to be that the air flow isn't fast enough because of a blocked pollen filter. It could be other things (slow motor due to stiff bearings, a blockage in the ducts etc), but the pollen filter gets mucky so quickly that this has to be the main candidate...

tbh i dont think it is the fan the resister dont even get hot when on 1-2-3 or 4 so i guess it is the resister (i hope so anyway)

when it's at No4 the resistor isn't used.. but at the other speeds it will get hot... it's possible that the motor is at fault but unless it's making a racket I'd say the the bearings/bushes are ok and maybe an impeller issue/blockage resulting in reduced flow/resistor cooling. If when it last worked the blower blew like a good'un I reckon the 'fleabay' units is really cheap and nasty... you should beable to get one much less than stealer price but as we know there is some right $hite on there... try another seller

it all worked fine with the first ebay resister on 1.2.3.4 then i tried o fit it in the grove and it wouldnt fit so i took the GM resister holder off and swopped it but i think i put it on the wrong way because when i put setting 1 on it was on like setting 3 , or do you think ive blow the motor in the blowrr by doing this? i thought becuse it works on 4 the motors fine and just needs the resister to lower the speeds?
