troubles

hi all ive been reading through all the faults in the relevant sections but cant find anything.
so here goes hope someone can help, for a few days have its sounded like my exhausts been blowwing from the front and as a result ive been smelling fumes(abit like rubber burning). anyway today my warning light came on and went in limp mode, taken it to the garage and they saying it needs a new dpf and thats whats causeing the blowing as the gases escape from a easiest point. read the section on removal/cleaning etc seems the best option, but what happens come mot time?

Depending on usage the DPF clog's if the car has not been run enough on longer journeys to let it regen. it is possible to clean it indeed some procedures even suggest the use of a pressure washer, and it seems to work. Alternate solution is to remove or bypass it and have the software updated in the car.

i do a mixture of journeys, i think i might try and give it a wash out and try that 1st. if that doesnt cure and i have it mapped out will that then be ok come mot time or am i likely to get an emission problem

There are quite a few who have had it removed, as not all Vectras came with a DPF only estates and Signum's the emissions should be OK for future MOT's unless the rules change.

A full regen will take probably about 20 minutes to complete for your info.

thanks for that. i`ve decided to get it off and jet wash it out see if it cures it. if not as someone else on here as done smash the filter part out and hopefully then job done. fingers crossed
