Default 215/45/17 Tyres suitable on a GSI?

I've got the chance of 4 x 215/45/17 new tyres cheap and wondered if i would get away with them on my GSI opposed to the 215/50/17? anything to consider?

I have always had 225/45/17 on my GSi with no issues!

215/50 will throw the speedo out and make it under read about 2.7% i.e. 30mph indicated would be 28mph and so on.

The side walls will be shorter too by,, 5% so a gap round the arches will grow in size.

Sorry I meant the 215/45 size will throw the speedo out that the OP was buying. 215/50 being the optimum size as you rightly point out
