    Default Engine covers

Had an accident with my engine cover the other day, It snapped when trying to get it off so i ordered another one off ebay and it came today

Anyway when it arrived i noticed straight away the new one had loads of foam underneath and it was moulded foam so it sits in-between engine components, My old cover just had felt pinned under it

Now the guy i bought it off said it was from a 60 plate insignia did vuaxhall change the design to help reduce noise levels from engine ? i know alot of people say the newer insignia's are not as noisy maybe this is why.

Vauxhall/Opel have done quite a bit of work to make the diesel Insiginas more refined, after the motoring press reckoned the diesels weren't as refined as the premium part of the market Vauxhall are trying to progress to.

Vauxhall must have redesigned it to reduce noise, I will try and compare noise reduction with both on my other one is away getting carbon dipped

That carbon dipping doesn't like to much heat so keep an eye on it, my friend dipped his Vectra VXR engine cover and it dis coloured after a couple of runs but the turbo is close to it.

Aah - this possibly explains why the Vectra diesel owned by our grand-daughter's other Nan has lots more engine noise than my Saab of the same year, that is if the Vectras also have felt and not a pre-formed foam blanket.
