    Default Aircon issues

    Hi guys,

though I know you cant find my fault by this post, but hopefully somee of your experienced Vx owners can give me some pointers.

Bought my 1.9CDti (-07 reg) beginning of this year.
Once it got warmer I noticed that the AC isnt blowing cold.
Back to the garage and they apparently fixed a hole and regased it.

    3 Weeks later, empty again.
Garage not helpful, so off to Vx dealer to have a look at it.
£609 later I had a new condenser fitted as they were sure that this caused the issue. Ok, it was in a pretty bad condition.
After that, I could have kept a polar bear very happy in my car.
4 weeks after that, the gas was gone and no cold air anymore.
So back to the Vx dealer who replaced another pipe and kindly didnt charge me at all.
It did last longer now but 6 weeks later .... down again ;o(

Have you guys got any ideas where else I could tell them to look!
It seems to keep stopping on the only few hot day here and its pretty annoying!

Are there any weak points you guys are aware off which I can pass on to the Vx dealer when the car goes back next Monday?

    cheers guys ...

ive heard they can add a UV die when regasing, this will show up any leaks. Might be worth enquiring about. They will probably still charge you for 2 regases, the die and the labour and parts to fix the leak once found but at least this way you see all leaks in the system and they dont end up charging you for each "fix" as they work there way round the entire system.

    hi,

yes they are using that UV technique already. Thats how the apparently found that there were 2 tiny leaks in the condenser and then the pipe.

    But it keeps leaking ....

I'm going to hazard a guess that the previous owner didn't use the AC which means the seals etc don't get lubricated and dry out which can cause a tiny leak or leaks.

might be worth taking it somewhere else then ? Im not a mechanic, in fact im doing my first brake disc change this saturday, but a reasonable theory on this, would be if theres uv die put in the system, then it will show the leak if there is one. The only exception to this would be if theres a leak inside an actual component.

From what i remember of hitting my fiesta aircon system with spanners and hammers like an ape before finalling giving up, any leaks on the actual components like the dryer and expansion valve would be visible on them as they dont house a fat lot of stuff inside for any "inner leaks" to happen.

might even be worth grabbing your own black light and going out on the night and having a look. The only inconspicious place i can think of is the rubber seal on the motor (is that the condensor? i dunno). the oil in the gas keeps the seal lubricated and if youve run with no gas that seal may be bad, but that should have shown under UV anyway.

What ive posted is probably useless. But i'm high on caffeine and got 3 more hours of work i should be doing before bed, so fancied the distraction for 10 minutes

sounds like it could be the condenser i done mine recently and its an easy job to do and for the sum total of £110

yeah its a real bummer ....
The had the car 3 times now and just cant find a leak.
Apparently they spend a whole day with the light after refilling and putting extra green dye in it ....
