    Default Service Intervals

My car had an interim service at 51k 10/01/2010 , the mservice book says that the next service is either 71k, or 1 year

Can i choose , and wait till the 71k or should i have the main servive done , from last service car has done 12k, however the oil has been changed 4 times since then

Reason i ask - Warrandty Direct states the car has to be serviced according to the manual,

So 1 year (which is due)
or 71k - still 8k away , however it does have regular oil changes

I am no expert (so why am I posting I hear you ask...) but my car was 8k off the 20k service interval but the service indicator came up after a year. I'd suggest it is the earlier of....1 year and 20k miles based on my experience.

Also Warranty Direct will undoubtedly try to squirm out of a claim any way they can...

The official line is 'x' miles or 'x' year - whichever comes soonest.

ie, if it's 20,000 miles or 1 year, but you only do 5,000 miles per year, then to keep the warranty going you must still have it serviced yearly.
Similary, if you do 30,000 miles a year, then you need it servicing before the year is up.

I would get it done sharpish, as something like services it normally allways states "whichever comes first"

You could be opening yourself up to non payment of claim, if you needed to claim as ithas not been serviced as per the schedule

It normally says which ever's sooner. So if it was my decision i'd go for that.

Saying that, I do mine every 6months.

I would do mine also every 6 months , but i need " a stamp" in the book for the warranty to remain in place

Just grudge paying the dealers cash for the task of a service !

Do the 6 month oil change yourself, then get the dealer to do the "official" service.

    It's over due, 10/01/2011
If you have just taken ownership of the vehicle then you need approval from the third party warranty company that they will accept this and ask for a response in writing
They may request you perform clawback, where the next two services are closer together to put the car back in line with the older services

However, if you have owned the car since 10/01/2010 then they may decline cover, again ask for this in writing
