Thumbs up Boot Lid Opening on Estate

Can anyone tell me if there should be some sort of cover over the button to open the boot lid on the estate? On mine I dont have anything and just push straight onto a metal spike. On other cars ive owned there has been a rubber cover to stop water and dirt etc.
    Cheers

Hi, What model/year estate have you got - I've got an 04 Vectra Design estate and it doesn't have any buttons to open it other than the pad above the rear number plate. It is a bit of a pain as it unlocks when I fully unlock the car and locks again after a couple of minutes and I have to unlock it using the rear door button on the remote fob or with the internal buttons on the front door handles

I've got an 07 face lift estate Exec. I think it is the pad you've mentioned that is missing. Mine just has a bare gap that goes straight to the switch so it's hit our miss if you get it right on the spot not! Seems a bit haphazard as the rest of the car is so solid.

Just a quick update. Visited the dealers and got a part number for anyone else that suffers the same. 13266127. The dealer wanted £22 for one but ive found it cheaper searching through the net. The E bay sellers wanted more than the dealer when you included the postage. I found it for £16 via Car Parts Conexion.com.
    Sorted.
