    Default GM Wiring Towbar question

I have just installed the GM towbar wiring kit (trailer module & 12n plug)

Set to present in the GID, Instrument and REC

But the lights do not turn off on the car when connected to the caravan
am I right in thinking according the installation instructions below they are suppose to stop working once trailer is connected (Page 7 diagram 15)

    http://www.ifz-berlin.de/ins_pdf/93171407.pdf

    Thank You

Oddly enough it doesn't do it on mine either although It does turn off the parking sensors with the van on.

Thing is it shows the left hand as having the foglight in the picture. Wonder if it's a LHD thing???

That's a good possibility, wonder if VX themselves know if they are suppose to go out or not, as it would be a good thing if they did.

Yeah it's just the fog light. My instructions also had that the reversing lights should cancel but they don't either. Doesn't really bother me tbh as everything else (flashing towbar, bulb failure and parking sensor cancelling) works

I not tried reverse yet. The main thing I wanted was the bulb failure warning, now the wife won't have to moan about checking the lights every time we leave site/storage lol...

Wonder how much the VX parking sensor kit is to buy???

I'd advise cleaning/replacing the 7 pin plug and cleaning all of the contacts in the lights. It can be a pretty sensitive system

Park pilot came to about 150 quid for me (plus programming) Best place to look for it is on genuine part search/car parts connexion

I just took the GM 12n socket off and connected the wires to my existing socket (could not be bothered removing the bumper to fit it lol)

Will keep an eye out for the VX park pilot, just have a maplins standard kit at the moment.

The VX Park Pilot is very good, problems start if your car doesn't have the wiring in for it but Andy.L made me a loom to add the extra wires into the car.

If you buy the "aftermarket" kit it has all of the wiring
