    Default MW new Problem

    Hi all,

Have searched the forums but cant find anyone with the same problem.

when stationary the recption on medium wave/am is fine even when the engine is revving up. However as soon as the vehicle moves from stationary there is a high pitched interferance that make listening to the radio impossible, as soon as the vehicle comes to a halt the reception goes back to normal.

Has anyone else experienced this, if so what was the cause

Also the CCr2006 HU really struggles to lock onto FM stations, even National ones-radio 1/2 etc, any suggestions on them, have seen the inline boosters listed elsewhere but was wondering if anyone had actually used these and if so did they work.

    Thanks in advance.

P.S. forgot to mention its a 2003 vectra hatchback with a ccr 2006. have only had the car for two days and so far its brilliant apart from this problem.

I suspect you've got a break in your aerial lead, or the base of the aerial is damp internally.

I have a CCR2006 in my Vectra, and FM performance is superb. MW is free of alternator whine too.

Take the aerial unit off the roof - it's fixed on from below and have a look. If you've got a multimeter, test for continuity from the aerial lead at the back of the radio to the aerial itself.

Sorry I can't be more detailed- I've not needed to take mine off so don't know what it looks like inside.

I'm not sure, but I think the aerial has an amplifier/impedance matching circuit in the base. So if this isn't getting power due to a broken or corroded (due to water ingress) connection it won't give a very good signal to the head unit.
