    Default vxr remap

    afternoon !
i have a vxr and have looked at all the remaps available from the obvious big companies but my local tuners have done loads of cars from standard remaps to 600bhp r32 golf
They have put an enlarged intake on it and having decats made on tues but they want to remap it for me to
they are very trustworthy people when it comes to this sort of thing but was wondering what sort off boost the tuners run with the stage one remap
    many thanks for your help

Spoons is your man to speak to about VXR remaps. Sure he'll be about later when he's finished on the track at TV.

Had a look at this and the turbo runs out of puff quite quickly on the VXR. It's a Mitsubishi unit and only good for about 8psi at top end. Obviously you can run more boost lower down but For big power you would have to swap to a decent Garrett until.

They stuck the Insignia turbo on his but it makes very little extra, I think they wasted his money doing so. A custom manifold and big Garrett turbo would have been a much better move.

Thorney Motorsport, Courtney, Regal and MPG are reputable 2.8t v6 tuners and good handhelds for a home remap are Bluefin and EDS IPF. Dont take it anywhere else if you join vxr online you will read the horror stories of people who have took them elsewhere and ended up with less power than they went in with.

A stage 1 remap with one of the above companys will give you 300bhp but more importantly 400lb/ft of torque (i think).

And if you check up on Regal you'll find they are cowboys and criminals, so strike that one from the list. If you go for an IPF, get it direct from EDS not a third party.

in your opinion. they cant be that bad as they've been around for years and they're still in business and I have heard mostly good reports about them. for vauxhall they use EDS stuff and doubt they'd be classed as cowboy maps lol

Tuners who dont have a rolling road or use bad generic maps from unheard of companys. There is'nt many of these engines about hence theres only a few places who have seen enough of them to perfect maps. If you want advice specific to your car join vxr online and the guys over there will offer you there advice aswell.
