    Default Credit score

I was wondering how many of you kept track of your credit rating?

I was in a lot of bother back in 2000-2002 with credit and ended up pretty much screwed. Over the years I have monitored and monthly checked the situ and today im completely clear and have a top score of 999. Woohoo

Do any of you keep an eye on your record for fraud etc?
I use Experian as its free for a month (provided you call and cancel within the 30 days) but it can be some pretty interesting reading if you have never done it before or for a while.

Its amazing the info they have on you.
just random thread, not on comission................

are you on electoral role at address for decent amount of time?
Also, i found that if you get a Very catalogue, buy somthing take it on interest free, buy now pay 3 months later
for three months, make minimum payment for two months then clear before 3 months is up.
    worked a charm wi me!

Credit rating works on exposure to credit as well as the amount of credit you have.

For example my wife has never had any form of credit (she gets me to do all that) so her credit rating is worse then someone who is 10k in debt.

Also, if you have 3 credit cards with limits of 3k, (9k exposure to debt) and 1k on each (3k of debt), your credit rating would be lower than having one credit card up to date but nearly at it's limit.

Having a home telephone number improves your credit rating, also being on the electoral roll and being named on any house hold bills.

Another thing to note, if you hold your current account with a high street bank, it is rare they will even check your external credit rating as they are primarily concerned with the conduct of your account and will use an internal credit scoring system.
