    Default Car with spanner warning light

    helloo justhave a trip to germany and stuck on motoway. Then my cooling temperature gon about 90 the car with spanner warning light comes and car went to limp mode . So I stopt swith the engine off and start again was fine till another traffic. So now Im switch the heating on and is no problem. Im still in germany .What you thinking there is the problem?

    90 isn't excessively high, but it is about where the cooling fan cuts in. IF the ECU can sense whether the fan is actually working and it's not, then it MAY throw a wobbly. Try to verify whether the fan is actually working by letting the car idle until it cuts in...

    Is it cooling fan have two speeds or just one cos its cuts in ....

    At least 2 speeds. The V6 diesel has 3 - I can force them on with opcom. I'd imagine that speed 1 cuts in at one temp, speed 2 at a higher temp and so on.

    If you're idling and letting the temp rise, speed 1 will be all that is needed to bring the temp down again.

    Hard to be more specific without knowing what the spanner code is, but I'd say it is something to do with the cooling fan operation or the temperature sender. At least you can 'manage' the problem with using the heater! Just keep an eye on the temp gauge and make sure your coolant level is OK, if you're planning to fix the problem or find out what it is back in the UK!
