Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, Jim Morrison, Amy Winehouse - all made front page news when they died aged 27 from drug overdoses - PATHETIC rolemodels..........Andrew Found, Martin Lamb, Daniel Prior, Steven Dunn, Graham Shaw - none made front page news when they died aged 27 members of our Armed Forces killed in action in Afghanistan - PERFECT rolemodels.

Aye,,,, its a sad reflection on our warped sense of celebrity indeed.

Thats the difference between being famous and not. We are not famous and our deaths will not be public knowledge throughout the world. I never understand why so many people make a fuss about it all. We all choose our careers. They died through drugs. Our troops get killed doing their job. I have had friends in the oil industry killed doing their job. Did you hear about their deaths?

Its the world we live in. The average person is not interested in you or I but someone famous sells papers/media.

What about famous people who smoked and died of lung cancer? Are they pathetic role models? Or drinkers like George Best who inspired so many but died because of his habit. Was he a pathetic role model?

Bottom line is we are "working class"

It's because these people have in some way touched lives of normal people. In the same fashion if someone dies who you know then you feel something about it.

Jade goody is another example. Talentless and brainless, but thanks to media exposure made her mark and made a lot of money.

no indeed, that was a sad tale. Not that I was a fan of her in any way at all but rags to riches and so shortlived.

It's the public and the media. If people stop buying these ****ty tabloid news papers that pedal such pointless sensational rubbish maybe we'll be left with sensible papers that actually reflect what we want to read/have reported. The sun jumping on the band waggon with the help the heros, yes it brought the campaign to the attention of a lot more of the public, but sadly they're only doing it to make more money spread their ridiculous bull**** to a wider demographic.
It could also be argued that their lust for profiting from peoples demise helps to push people like winehouse over the edge.
It's sad that all of the above died before their time and its sad that the media prioritize the way they do.
