Boot Lid issue...................

Right, I just changed the fob casing (mine was fubar'd)

checked everything was working:

central locking.................OK

Ignition....................OK

Starts up..................OK

Boot lid opens.....................OK

Brilliant job done.

but half an hour later i cannot open boot?

everything else works but the bootlid motor just 'whirrs' without releasing boot?

any ideas?

Unfortunately it's a new boot lid lock what you need. Just had to buy one to mine. At first it was whirring and moving the boot lid up and down while pressing the button it may unlock or may have not. I just lived with it for some time. When it came to the point where the lock didn't engage anymore. It just popped open and there is no other way to lock it. (Mechanical failure) It was very annoying to drive with an open boot. Fortunately there was one lock in stock at the local dealer here in Finland. It was around 100 euros. I really recommend you to replace it before it's too late. It doesn't make you smile if you cant lock it for the night!

Very easy task to replace it. All you need is one can of beer (just kidding

) and unscrew 3 large torx screws and you need to pop some clips to get things out of your way.

You may also need to adjust that metal thingy if it doesn't feel right.

[edit]New lock feels completely different. Locking mechanism is very fast and does what it's suppose to do. When it becomes lazy and adding oil doesn't do the job then you know it's time for a new lock. If there is no way to open it there should be some kind of release tab somewhere... Maybe someone else can help you with that?[/edit]

Mine does this when it's not quite shut properly. Try pushing it down a bit harder first and try again.

Yes it was the same with mine, but it shouldn't do that. Your lock could be on it's way too... :/ With a new lock it doesn't matter if the lid is not completely shut it always opens the lock without any whirring.

thanks guys, but its sorted (for now??????)

enter boot through back seats.

remove gromet/round cover from boot lid trim cover.

locate square socket with screwdriver or similar.

turn gently while pushing up on boot lid.

boot lid should now open.

give mechanism a liberal dose of wd40.

all Ok now!!!!
