    Default V6 CDTi Injector Change

    Hi again folks!

    My post is two-fold!

Is there anyway of identifying a 'noisy' injector other than a leak-off test? I've heard about placing a screwdriver on the top of the injector and listening... does this actually work?

secondly, I have bought a new injector to cure a misfire on my Y30DT, its definately an injector knocking.

Has anyone changed an injector on the Y30DT and is it a difficult job?

    Cheers folks!

    Difficult - very
    Messy - very

As for the screwdriver method I'd say it doesn't really work. I replaced all 6 injectors on mine and all 6 NEW injectors sound exactly like the old ones. Had them replaced on my old 3.0 too, as one was dead...It's really something I wouldn't attempt myself.

My advice would be to replace all 6, preferably coming from the same engine or get 6 new ones. I've 18 injectors collecting dust lol. If you're interested, make an offer as I really don't know how much they're worth used.

The injector (s) will also need coding to the ECU.

That's probably the easy part of the job...

Never seen it done and hopefully never have to

They don't need coding at least that's what the Opel dealer told me. The car's been fine so far (about 10k since).

    My bad...!

Thought all diesel injectors on common rail systems were coded to the ECU these days. But we all know this engine is a little *special*
