If this is a DIY top up kit, forget it.

They're soon to become illegal anyway in the UK, just as they are in many countries.

Aircon systems require careful extraction, flushing, cleaning, leak detection and very precise measured quantities of oil and refrigerant if they're to work properly. Just blasting in an approximate amount of H134a and oil into a system that is known to have a leak (otherwise you wouldn't be refilling it) until the pressure is about right is almost certainly going to result in some gas escaping and potentially damaging the environment as well as the risk of damage to the aircon compressor, valves and seals.

If you have used one, never let a proper aircon guy know - you'll get such a telling off (no I haven't used one, but I know a couple of aircon guys).

Is it 49.99 to buy the Can with Guage & Hose then 10 quid back when returnung empty can, making it 40 quid.. Or is it 49.99 plus an extra 10 quid making it 59.99 to buy then 10 quid back when you return the empty can? Its not very clear..

Aparrently these cans have enough in 'em to do a couple of motors, which works out quite good value really, reviews on Halfords all seem quite positive.. I thought all Air con systems leak anyway, else they wouldnt need topping up I suppose... These cans say they contain the gloop that seals leakes n stuff... Are they really getting banned?

Yea, but some reviews say they've been able to do two cars with one can, so ...
