If you're going to disable or bypass the factory-fit one, then yes, the car will be slower. The standard one allows the turbo to keep spinning even when you take your foot off the accelerator, thereby reducing spool-up time and lag. An after market dump valve won't achieve that.

unless you change gear reeeeaaaallly slowly a i think the power loss will be so small you wont notice , you will however feel the woosh of the boost kicking in a bit more than before

The turbo spins at well over 100,000 RPM on full boost - the speed of your gear change isn't going to diminish turbo lag caused by the turbo having to regain that momentum.

Is that one of the reasons why the revs dont drop too quick either in between gear change?

Can't see any power loss if it's holding boost with a dump valve

The clue is in your sentence: "holding" and "dump" are complete opposites. Dump valves dump the boost into the atmosphere, so the engine certainly won't be "holding" the boost with an aftermarket dump valve.

No, with the factory setup on the Z20NET the engine can drop revs whilst the turbo doesn't, as the boost keeps the turbo spinning whilst bypassing the cylinders.

I meant if it's holding boost while on the gas it can't lose power surely then dump it then back on
