Default 1.9cdti 150 what to check?

I know there are hundreds of threads on here about things to check for when buying a car but I can't seem to find any of them!?! Can anyone pop up a link to one such thread as I want to be armed with all possible knowledge before I pick up my new car.

Check swirl flaps (inlet manifold) - Take engine vanity cover off and look down behind the fuel rail, you will say the rod. If it's in place and there is no sign of oil the manifold is fine. Otherwise it is on the road out or done for if the rod is off.

EGR valve - Take it for a test drive; if there is a hesitation at 2,000rpm or a flat spot under 2,000rpm, then the valve is jammed open or jamming open.

Vacuum hoses - They give the same symptoms as a faulty EGR valve. They are located to the front right of the engine near the battery/grille. Splits in these are common. Cheap fix though.

Injector wiring - If all plugs are Blue then the engine already has the updated plugs. If Yellow they will probably need changed.

Thermostat - If the engine takes a long time to heat up or doesn't heat up at all; the thermostat is probably jammed open.

Not forgetting the Dual mass flywheel. Although thats on every model, not just the 1.9.

Just to check, is the injector wiring a recall or just a possible fault?

It's not a recall - though it should be. I covered under Vx warranty if you have one. The cost to have all replaced is about £120ish.

What's the actual issue with the yellow plugged injector wiring? is it a lack of power supply? I worry that if I fing theyre the yellow ones, my only argument is that theyre the wrong colour but i don't know why that matters.

The plug deteriorates with heat, and causes the engine to shut down.
