Default Diagnose 1.9 Cdti 8v problem

    Right here we go,

Car had a water leek which i had to keep topping up. Noticed the tempreture had risen to around 95c, pulled over and think i filled the water bottle up to quick and trapped some air as it was making an awful cracking sound.

Drove about 10 miles and car went into limp mode, turned the car off and on again and it was fine, water temp was fine.

Then started making a loud knocking noise from the engine internals, I reduced the revs to idle, It idled for 10 seconds then stopped dead.

Left the car for about 15 minutes, went back to it, tempreture light was off the scale and i think it was the oil tempreture light was flashing away.

Go to start the car and it seems like theres no compression.

I called a diesel specialist, he said that the headgasket, water pump, belt needed doing along with skimming the head. And quoted me around £600-£700

But that dosnt answer the reason for the knocking noise and no compression. I think the problems further down the block.

    Any thoughts?

if you have no outer coolant leak then you are going to have to remove the cylinder head and replace the head gasket. I have seen one 1,9 150HP engine that drove into seawater. as the result the no.4 conrod was bent such way that turning the crank 360deg was not possible. If your engine got some coolant inside the cylinder you might want to check the conrods as well.
Also check the cam rockers just in case. With seized coolant pump and wrong cam timing often the rockes tend to break when valve hits the piston. Good about that is that valves stay OK.
