Default Detailing Jobs: 2007 Vectra SRi CDTi XP (Jimbob78's)... 56k Beware!

Today I took a trip out to see Jimbob and his Sapphire SRi XP. Its only just 3 years old so the overall bodywork condition is good, but has some quite bad swirls and the paint was hazy, so didn't quite look as it should.

Just over 5 hours later and it was done.

First of all the wheels were treated with some Very Cherry and some AG Tar Remover for some spots that were on the inside edges, the it was given the snow foam treatment and a full claying - this really smoothed the paint as some sections had some heavy tar spots.

The it was cleaned with some AG Bodywork Conditioner and then dried with a fluffy towel, then came the polishing...

A few combinations were tried and I settled on some Megs #80 with a 3M green compounding pad with the DAS-6, it had a couple of passes and this removed 80% of the swirls - which was very good as this wasn't a correction job - so myself and Jim were pleased with this.

Then I went over it with some Poorboys Blackhole with the DAS-6 (which is a damn sight easier than by hand) and some AG HD Wax applied (tyres were treated with Megs Endurance Gel).

I was very pleased with the results from the pad combination and so was Jim

Anyway enough drivel, here's some pics, I even remembered some before pics this time

    This was what greeted me...

    ...a wheel

Most of the paint was swirled in this way, quite heavy in places...

Swirls and Holograms on the bonnet...

    Snowfoam is always fun...

One pass with the Megs 80 and compounding pad...

    Swirls virtually gone...

    The results...

WOW, who's that awesome Vectra in the background...

Thanks for looking, and comments always welcome...
