    Default P0704 Error

Just put a code reader on my 1.8 LS 2003, and it came back with code P0704 pending. Noticed when I started it, before even moving off it juddered and cut out.

Having googled it, says its something to do with a clutch switch which is only a tenna on ebay, is it easy enough to access and fit?

Clutch switch is part of the cruise control circuit and if the cruise control is working you can ignore the code

Also, 'pending' codes are ones that where the ECU has detected something not within the limits, but not serious enough to class as a fault. It could just be a one off - like you had the clutch pressed down a little bit when turning the ignition on. Or maybe a temperature sensor reads way too hot when starting the engine - but it could be because it's been sitting in the sunshine and will drop to normal once coolant is flowing.

If the fault comes up several times in a certain time period, it'll then decide it's a proper fault, and log it as such. If it doesn't come up again after a certain time, it'll remove it from the 'pending' list.

Pending codes are a neat system to make sure that odd glitches aren't putting the engine warning light on all the time, when there might actually be no problem at all.

Check again in a week or so to see if it's still there.
