Decat and 2012 mot

I have decated my 2.0 dti and enjoy it ,but i have seen a lot of people asking about the mot issues in 2012 when the new low will be introduced so I went to see a mot shop owner to find out about it for myself and you guys. So, you can decat your diesel car and pass mot no problem this year. Next year thaw they will be checking the percentage of unburned fuel .Right now allowed limit is 3% and the mechanics do rev your engine only 1500-2000rpm, next year the limit will come down to 1.6% and they will rev it up to 4500rpm. This way of checking diesel cars exist in Europe for years and I had my 1991 wv golf dti going throw them no problem even with the cat being so old that small parts of it were falling out of the exhaust pipe,
The only thing u have to do is run the car on high rpms before mot to make sure the engine is hot and all the soot has blown out (this is my opinion) Decat or not is up 2 u. Good luck

i dont no much about mots but i thought when a mot tester does a deisel they rev it to the max for about 1-2 seconds for the smoke test?

i thought petrols were 1500-2000rpm

whats the difference after the cat has been taken out.

sounds sportie if used together with induction kit, smoother ride, 4-6 bhp and if u r thinking about remapping or getting a tuning box -better gains. I am going for a remapp on 13.08.11 so i will post the dyno results for chages with decat and induction kit and remap changes.

what year is your dti , mines 2004, and is there any negatives to decat ?

Mine is 02 but looks 10

There is place in enfield north London , someone recommended me to go there i will try them out and let u guys know. They want £325 for dyno before,while tuning and final dyno.....i think its not bad cos i will know 4 sure how much i have gained, and they do personal remap not just a ecu flush
