Loud creaking noise from servo area ?

Out and about this evening when I noticed quite a loud creaking noise when I brake. I've never heard it before.

When I got home I pressed the pedal with the engine off and the creaking noise seems to be from the servo area, its very loud the pedal pumps hard and goes down when the engine starts as normal. The noise stops when the pedal is hard.

Is there a spring that could do with some grease or something ? I haven't heard of this problem before has anyone else ?

Noisy pedal return spring?? may have to shoot some silicone grease over the spring in the pedalbox??

This is a really old thread, but reviving it as its the closest I could find to the description of the issue that my car has.

Loud creaking noise as pedal is applied or released. Is louder in the engine bay than in the interior, so suspect servo or some linkage behind the servo in the engine bay. Anyone dealt with this issue before? None of the historical threads on this subject seem to come to any firm conclusion.

I had a noise like this but was from calipers, trimming the disc shield seems to have stopped it so far that's with a 314 upgrade
