    Default wheel size???

Evening Peeps ... I'm in a bit of a dialemma about what to do about wheels.. the problem i've got is that at present I'm running 19" audi rims but getting vibration through the front.... I believe this is possibly down to cr@p machining of the spigot hole (not quite centre)...these replaced the 20" rs futura rims I had until I killed one and couldn't get another... now realy want to sort this issue and been pondering about going back to 18's as I'm now working on just making my car quicker and handle.....what would you do...

1, Sort audi rims?(get checked/spigots rebored and adapters to suit)

2, Hold out for another 20" rim and get others refurbed?

3, get some 18's (maybe the cheaper option)

    4, other...(please advise)

This is an option... when I had them machined I couldn't find anywhere with a lathe big enough so had the done on a radial miller..anyone who knows about machining will know the lathe would have been a better option... anyone know of any good machine shops around mids/shropshire that can handle this?..I have thought about getting some audi copy rims with correct spigot wotsit... but they're pricey... don't get me wrong..I'm not tight.. but my 20's cost 2k with tyres and are basically scrap as i cant get another.. audi rims n tyres cost £385 off ebay+£160 machining+£40 tyres removed/refitted n balanced.... just want to get things sorted

Well you won't like the answer but for speed round corners and handling you require 8" wide 18" dia pro race 1.2's (or other special light wheels) at 10kg ea which is best part of 5kg lighter than your 20" perhaps more! Then buy a decent 235/40x18" tyre zeronero or pilot, I have gone for track biased tyre Federal 595 RS. Lower profile rubber is known to be inferior for handle, although the roadholding should be a bit better. I know my car is transformed with lighter wheels.

as above or even go for the 17's like the btcc teams do with massive positive camber on the rears....

ok i'm not after mega handling/road holding... but something decent.. i ran 18's with khumos which i believe gave a good allround balance... my present 19's have 'sunnys' up front and avon rears (not my choice but what they came with) (sunnys are a lil ropey in wet).. my 20's had conti's at £250 a corner and those were the ones when my back end slid out and took a short exit into a wall lol... i can get equal road holding with each set up (18,19 or 20") but dunno what to go for as in sort rims i have(19's and 20's) or just get new 18's..
