Talking VERY VERY Lucky Escape *Cambelt*

well have just got the car back and realised what a lucky lad i am!!

had the cambelt kit water pump and alernator belt replaced.....

now the car is on 85,000 and id been putting it off for a while

but decided i had to get it done, when inspecting the belt after i couldnt believe it there were splits all over it and it looks at tho it was on its last legs!

water pump had a bit of play in it

    cogs had some play

and my alternator belt was like new

im sure it wont be another 85k before i change it again!

not many people will but after reading many people leaving them for upto the 100'000k i think id be waving bye bye to the car!

You are a lucky chap.....I had my belt changed at 90,000... there was no sign of any cracks or wear in cogs.... have you had the car from new?...if not have you had the ECU scanned for correct miliage?

If you know anyone with Tech2 or an opcom set up plug into the diagnostic socket under the ashtray and go to ecu and measuring blocks.

This was how I deduced my first vectra had had 30K removed from the Odo!
