    Default Fuel pump recall?

Hey everyone. My fuel pump has gone so I took it to Vauxhall with advice from my local garage it may be fixed under a recall as these were a known problem. I have a 2.2 Vectra SRI 2004.

Only 2 months ago I had to pay out £700 for a new timing chain and kit and now vauxhall have quoted £500 for a pump.

I always felt the car had a problem in that when I started it, sometimes it would struggle to even tick over until I switched it off and on again. Occasionally it seemed to lack acceleration too. Will i notice a difference once its fixed?

So back to the pump. Was there ever a recall for these?

    Kind regards

    Terry

I think there was a recall for the 2.2 Direct (Z22YH engine) but not for the earlier 2.2 non-direct (Z22SE engine).

It'll say 2.2 direct on the back (as long as it's not been de-badged). Think 2004 was the crossover year, but someone with more knowledge on it will be able to tell you soon enough.

    Hi Telstar,
    I have a late 2006 2.2direct only 42k miles FVSH (6 monthly service).
The recall for this engine is the "fuel pressure regulator" not the fuel pump. My car broke down in december and it was the fuel pressure regulator so it was repaired free of charge under recall..........

Then 3 weeks ago my HP fuel pump gave up the ghost and yes quoted £664 to supply and fit (£374+ vat for the pump,2 hours labour and a vaux com/fault finding session). I called and wrote to head office as my car is low mileage, fsh and was only 3 weeks out of third party warranty. The reply was sorry NO due to the following factors.....1. you purchased the car 2nd hand 2. Its out of warranty. 3. there was and is no recall on the HP fuel pumps....

In the end I paid only £411 as I have a trade club card, so get a fab discount (£252+vat for pump and discounted the labour).

If I was you I would get a trade club card by becomming a full member on here for £15 and going the same route I did dude. It will save you at least £185 (I think I got discount on labour due to my custom there lol).

If you need anymore info or help just ask dude, but you will not get it done free of charge or even a contribution unless your car has warranty or your the first and only owner with fvsh and extremely low mileage. Sorry

Thank you for your great reply, I appreciate your input. The garage I usually use are getting back to me first thing with a quote but said they could definitely do a much better price. I will let you know how I got on.

If the part or the car is out of warranty, VX will not entertain a claim on this. My old 2.2i direct fuel pump went at 68k, then at 71k and again at 102k - neither pumps were covered as they went just out of warranty (12 months). Mine ran beautifully up until it failed. The spanner comes on and limp mode ensues!!!

Ok guys. An update. New fuel pump and fuel filter fitted including VAT £420.00. The fuel pump was a GM one too.
All fitted by my usual local garage. Car seems to be running fine now.
