    Default freeview vs freesat

Thinking of ditching my Sky to save some £££.

So should I go freesat or freeview? I'd like to get an HD box for whichever one and the "+" (record) ability would be nice too.

on some freeview ( ariel ) boxes , they have interferience problems with vehicles .

on my old free view box , certain cars going by my house would make the screen go very pixelated and broken up , sometimes with a message saying no signal .

a pain if it makes you miss the winning goal in the world cup , you couldn't rewind to review the goal because the interferience is what it recorded .

maybe it's all to do with strength , brand , height and position of the ariel .

my sky dish hardly ever falters .

so it's a thumbs up for dishes from me .

Last December , i cancelled my sky subscription , it was ridiculous paying over £ 40 a month and the channels i watched the most were repeat channels ...

i.e. Gold and Watch , with fools and horses , top gear , and My Family repeats ...

I was cut off for 2 weeks and suddenly we got a call from Sky on the phone ,

please come back for half price for about £ 24 a month .

We said we hardly ever watched sports , so they knocked it down to £ 19. 20 p ..

So guess what we are doing next December ,

Yep that's right ,,,,,,,,,,, we are cancelling again ......

and because we are not prepared to pay over £ 40 , there is nothing to lose .

if they come back with another reduced deal ........ excellent ..

if not ......... nothing lost .

I only wish that last December , we had done a deal on half price Sky H. D. as well .

As the crafty s0ds are transfering a lot of my favourite programmes to H. D. only ,

    Forcing people to upgrade .

    So i have a h.d. telly only working to half it's ability . l.o.l.

Yeah money's currently half price after I phoned to cancel. The hd is still a rennet. They don't half price it. Still going to cancel thought I think.

Does freesat or freeview have more channels or are they about the same? Especially HD ones.

i have been currently looking into this for my mum.

I have found that freesat u dont get as many channels as sky freesat. Which if your an existing sky customer you get free once you cancel your sky contract. Otherwise its like £30 for a card.

If you have a hd box or + you have to pay £10 a month for each feature. (Pointless)

Freeview you can buy a quality recording box for £120 mark and be able to record freeview.

You may not be able to record sky but at least you can record freeview and still get the 200 sky channels. No monthly bills :-)

Sadly not in a cable area

I think you can get freest HD+ boxes that'll record. It's Only if you want to use your Sky+HD box you have to pay. Don't want to give sky any more money. Charging you £10 a month just to record on a box you own just sums sky right up

Hi - just bought a HUMAX (Freesat) HDR 500GB box - so HD and twin tuners. Very impressed with it. You get plenty of channels if you can do without DAVE then it's not a problem ... only so many times you can watch Top Gear / 5th Gear repeats etc.

Quality is ace, easy to use - series record, pause live TV and all that. You get a handful of HD channels - BBC / ITV / C4 and a few others I can't remember now.

I've never bought Sky so can't compare what I never had but for someone that just wanted some "more" channels and no subscription I'd recommend it.
