    irmscher grill just arrived

Grille is for a facelift, i know your suppose to take the bumper off for fitting, however has anyone done it without removing bumper? is it possible?

how hard is it to do, concidering taking it to the garage to get them to do it..... dont want to make a mess of it.

also grille came with a backing plate.... is it different to the backing plate i will have on now?

Unfortunately the bumper defo has to come off to fit the grill mate. Bumper off is easy peasy will take you 10 mins max. Old grill out is another matter. You'll find you'll undo all the clips, then it wont come out, then you'll find more clips to undo then more clips lol. To say its a pain in the rear is an understatement. But it is a job you can do your self mate just a little time consuming thats all. You will also defo have to use the new grill's back plate. HTH

agreed far easier to do with the bumper off as on you wont see the release clips or have easy access to them - i love the simlicity of the fitting instructions supplied by Irmscher.. ..

give yourself PLENTY of time and space to walk away and swear very loudly .... and have satisfaction in breaking old bits after you take it off

the end result DO outweigh the cons

    good luck

Here's a small tip for when you come to remove the old grille...

You have to remove the chrome strip around the original grille for it to come out. Be careful as its quite delicate. The other tip is the the use of cable ties!

Be gentle when you lift the small plastic tabs which hold everything in place. They will easily snap or bend too much and end up not locking back into place.

I found the best way was to gently lift the tabs with a flat head screwdriver, then slip a cable tie between the plastic clip and where it locates onto the bumper. Pressure will keep it in place and stop it from locking back into position. As you work around the clips the original grille will pretty much pop out.

Just take your time fella, and DONT get your hair off with it and start tugging too hard at it! It will come off in one piece and intact!
