    Default Flame red gone pink

    Hi
can you guys advise the best to get flame red back to its original glory?
This car is looking very tired for 2006 plate and I wanted to know what would be best?

My brother advises that "mopping" would be good
Can I do it myself if i want to put the effort in?
Or if its quite bad, is it best to get it done by a pro?

    many thanks

Well if you mop it it will be ok but it will come back . If you keep moping it you will wear the pint down to undercoat. The problem why some cars go pink and other don't is that they use different suppiers of thinners and cheap thinners causes the car to go pink. I would take it back to the dealer and say this is not exeptable to happen on a car of this year and want the car resprayed. You might have some luck.

If you have FSH it will help.

i' used to have a pink fiat..bought it cheap as it shoulds been red. I used lots of elbow grease and lots of t cut..£2.00 a bottle at asda at the minute.

Took it back to the dealer who was v surprised at the result i got by hand.

By hand is a nightmare and you just wont get the finish without a Machine Polisher. I did my neighbour's Flame Red Astra G 3 weekends ago and it took me almost 4 hours to do using a Rotary and Megauirs Mirror Glaze #82 & #83.

Not used UC, if it doesn't seal or wax I give mine a coat of Megs Ploymer sealant (#20?) and several layers of #16 wax.

If done properly (and a few here have done it) i.e. polished and sealed etc and then kept on top off, it won't come back.

Done a few of these now and never had an issue.

try some rubbing compound by hand some where you wont notice it a lot see if it brings it up dont rub it a lot if it starts to bring it up go 4 it a panel at a time when you have done the whole car use some good polish to bring out the gloss and a sealer to finnish it off , or clay bar it and use srp and a lot of hand power
