Default My install thread... (Image heavy eventually!)

Ok, with the always excellent advice and help from Ian-Highlander, the start of my ICE install...sorry for the lack of pics at every stage, but it is very similar to his thread at certain stages (http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showthread.php?t=132828) so didn't see the need in duplicating pics! (plus we were doing the first bits in between rain showers!lol so were working quite quickly!)

Anyway, I digress!lol so, already put the Pioneer AVH-3200BT head unit in when I bought the car :

now decided to upgrade the speakers to the Pioneer TS-Q172C in the front - door speakers & tweeters

Passenger Side door card off and Ian fitting the first speaker (tweeter already in!)

    Driver's Side

next to pull the power cable through to the engine bay...

    yes, i bought a lot of cable!lol

following lots of contortionist behaviour and scraped hands!

    front fuse mounted

power cable was then fed down passenger side cable run, behind rear passenger side seat bolster, side of the boot and through to the driver's side of the boot in preparation for getting hold of the amp, fitting the speakon socket etc - no pics for this as it was getting dark and wanted to get finished!lol but the idea is to get this fitted

more pics to follow when everything else sourced and during installation!

must admit i'm looking forward to getting it done, but it will be a few weeks because of both mine and Ian's availabilty! (plus I still don't have the amp!lol)

    All comments welcome as always!

How'd the new door speakers sound mate? Didn't even have chance to listen to them beyond checking they worked lol

sounding pretty good so far - don't think I've got the settings back exactly how I had them before (but they are fairly close) - stupid head unit lost half the settings (but remembered the bluetooth pairing and track position!), so was trying to set everything on the way back home last night think I'm about there this morning, and liking it - just need to get the sub in and it should sound cracking!

Thanks again for your help last night Ian!

Just need another pair of those speakers for the back doors now when your funds allow and that amp for the sub

You're welcome mate, anytime you know that.

After going over to Ian & Amy's to help with a bit of painting, since Justin (WhiskeyNo7) & I had bits to do on the cars, Ian kindly continued with that whilst we were brandishing brushes!lol Anyway, more pics of the install, leading to the successful conclusion of a working system after Ian kindly leant me a spare amp - sounding loads better already (and I have a feeling I haven't finished yet!lol )

Feeding RCA and signal cable down driver's side cable run

Half the dash out to get the cables into the back of the head unit (I think I have now had the car in so many bits that it doesn't bother me seeing it like this anymore!lol)

Mounting additional fuse distribution in the boot (hmmm...space to plug some more into it...it might be rude not to! )

Mounted with power input from battery and output to Amp

    Fuses with temporary Amp

Speakon socket fitted (so sub can be removed if required)

wiring built in LEDS in sub casing into circuit with boot LEDS

    all in place!

More to come? probably!lol Upgrade rear door speakers and potentially another amp to power (at least) the front door speakers

Thanks again to Ian for his help as always!

Thanks Ian - he certainly does!

I think he was the cleanest one of us by the end of the day!lol but I don't mind!

The more worrying thing now is that I am now actually confident enough to pull the car apart like this myself!lol (and more importantly able to put it back together again! lol)

dead chuffed with it so far, but as Ian warned me, may well end up doing more to it yet....
