My Signum used to do something like that - the AC pump was completely knackered inside and used to do it's own thing, including spinning down by itself after I'd switched off the engine...

Think that's just the A/C and climate control. Normal, if it is making a high pitched but faint whine for about 10seconds.

Was the air con on when you switched the engine off and was it a hot day? If the answer is yes yes then don't worry its normal.

I know that the power steering pump can make a noise when you shut them off but the EHPS isn't fitted to the 2.8 is it?

No electric power steering on the 2.8 and a fluid tank you can easily top up next to the air filter.

I get a whirr-click from my v6 diesel when it's switched off... it's just the VNT actuator servo settling down to bed. Maybe something quite normal m8, but check it out if you're concerned, esp. as under warranty.
