Question Will front fog light fail MOT

    Hey all,

My right front fog light is very heavily condensated and it will not clear. I've had the light on for two hours and left it parked in the sun etc.

It's been like it since I've had the car but MOT is due in a month, I'm unsure if it will fail or not. There are no chips or cracks that I can see in the lens so just think a seal has gone or the drain is blocked.

Any ideas on if it will fail please?

    Thanks

    VF

At the moment the operation of front fog lights are not part of the mot test, however they will be classed as dangerous and fail the test if they have cracked lenses.. Good luck.

Front fog light operation as said above isn't part of the MOT.

A cracked lens also isn't a fail, unless the crack is such that you have broken glass with edges. It's part of the 'anything sharp likely to injure someone' bit of the test.

    No they won't. Advise only

This also isn't a fail, just an advisory. That part of the test is judged by forming the opinion if somebody walked past it and brushed up against it, would it injure/hurt them. The answer to that one in this instance is no, so it's not a fail. If it was a headlight glass, then it would be a fail as someone could catch their hand against it or their clothing because the headlight is exposed enough for that possibility, a fog light isn't. well not a Vectra one anyway.

Thanks everyone for your input. I'll have the back off this weekend and 'dry' it out and then sail through my MOT

    Cheers
