Default Insignia 2.0 CDTi (160ps) Power Loss

Having problems with my Insigia 2.0 CDTi SRi (160ps) which has only done 11k miles: after driving for about +30 miles motorway driving and then returning to urban driving the car will suffer major power loss, when idling the engine "knocks" (rattles) badly and the rev counter bounces erratically between about 700-1000RPM (no DPF or any other errors flagged in the driver display panel). If I floor the accelator when still in neutral the car fails to reach 3000 rpm !!! Having to turn off ignition and switch back on in order to clear. Been like this since car was about 6 wks old - now had it 18 months since new and booked back into to dealership for the 4th time. Previous 3 times no fault found but they did try to spin me a yarn about 1st time round about recall for the BCM (Body Control Module) being a remedy !! If no fault found this time they're also going to charge me £72 !! Anyone else experienced these symptoms??

BCM recall was to prevent the battery going flat.

I would go to a different dealer and contact Vauxhall customer service, your dealer sounds rubbish

As above contact vauxhall customer care and explain it all to them be nice and they will do everything possible to help you. Also note down the case number they give you and when you take the car in to the dealer give them the case number also so that they know you mean business.

See if you can demonstrate the fault to them. Just because they can't find or diagnose it doens't mean you should be charged £72 for their incompetence. Also try a different dealer as suggested.

Thanks for the feedback guys but just to let you know the problem with my 2.0 CDTi 160 SRi has still not been remedied and if anything is getting worse. Different dealer still unable to duplicate the fault and I've now generated my own diary of occurrances to take it back up with the dealer. Also contacted VX HQ and have a case number raised against the claim for tracking purposes. I did receive one piece of information thru a friend of a friend of a VX mechanic who said it maybe possible that wiring harness is rubbing against injectors and causing the engine to drop to 3 cylinders - planning to share this info with the dealer and get the car booked in yet again!

Trading standards m8, your car has a problem at low mileage and tbh Vauxhall should be covering the cost. Simple. Don't hand over a penny and if you do keep the reciept, phone trading standards s oin the end you can reclaim the money which you shouldn't be paying.

Car's still under warranty. You should not be charged a penny for whatever a dealer has to do to put it right.
