why not just buy a 2.0T? It cannot be worth the time or money to turbocharge the 1.8 which is already underpowered for the weight of car

I think calling a 1.8 under powered is abit harsh, on a poll on here its one of the most reliable engines, if it was under powered and therefor constantly under strain it wudnt be one of the most reliable vectra engines surely.?? I dont think its under powered its just there is bigger beffier engines out there.

If you think 122bhp is enough to push along a Vectra C then fine (I had one with the earlier engine!). The engine is strong and reliable and can take the punishment but IMHO is better suited to an Astra (which I currently own with a 1.8 engine) or even better in a Corsa (which I have also owned). If its the VVTi version then thats not to bad as that is 140BHP but still a bit lacking.

The 2.0T is far better suited to the Vectra C and is relatively easy to tune. Have a search on the forum.

Regarding adding a Turbo to the 1.8 i don't think anyone on the forum has done it

3,800 euros to turbocharge a 1.8?? You could buy an already re-mapped 2.0T for that...

Just thinking that if you were to add a Turbo to a standard engine your insurance in the UK would shoot up in price if you were able to get insurance at 20 years old for it.
Much better option would be to get a 2.0T but it would still be expensive on insurance for a 20 year old and then if you modified it..................... £££££'s
