The EGR valve is supposed to be initiated onto the engine, using Vaux Com/Tech2, however some have got away with it. Sounds like the EGR valve is sticking open/jamming half way.

Are you sure about that - wasn't aware an EGR valve needed Tech 2 ing?

Re read my post. I said some have got away with it. And no not tech 2'ing but it needs initiated on to the engine - apparenty.

    What's your solution?

I read your post a couple of times before replying - my solution when I did mine recently was to bolt on a new EGR valve and away I went - how do you 'initiate' it to the engine. Perhaps I was just lucky and 'got away with it'

Hi, Been a few posts recently with similar problem - I had it on my 1.9cdti (120) and resolved it by changing the EGR valve, cleaning the boost sensor and replacing the boost vacuum pipes - all are covered by previous posts

I said apparently? I know some who have done the same as you and car worked fine. I know others who weren't lucky.

Perhaps you were were. how does this solve the OP's problem? Floor is all yours.

As for ininiatating it - I don't know but you're the expert with all the knowledge, so help the OP out without mit picking a post which offers why the fault has possibly occurred.

It is down to if the EGR valve has been adapted - initiated to the engine or not. Some will fit the valve and not have a problem. I replaced mine - not an issue either. By means of whether it has to be set/initiated/paired or whatever I don't know, never used the software, don't how do it. Your EGR valve is jamming, sooted up already? I doubt it, I'll lay with the reason the ECU needs to tbe told the valve has been replaced. Did you get a brand new EGR valve or one from Ebay? Did you fit it yourself?

Quite happy to help the OP out as you can see above - I certainly would'nt want him/her to waste time and money having to go to a Vauxhall dealer to have his car Tech 2 when it wasn't necessary. As far as 'mit picking' is concerned - this was not my intention - I have never heard of anyone having to 'initiate' an EGR valve, whatever that involves - and like you I haven't a clue how to do it and certainly wouldn't suggest it to anyone else. I am not saying you are wrong - but I read as many posts as I could regarding EGR valves and replacing them and never came across this - perhaps I was unlucky and missed something - if that was the case I apologise and i will stand corrected (perhaps you could point me in the right direction as I am always willing to learn)I don't profess to be 'an expert with all the knowledge' but try and ensure that any help I do pass on is accurate and useful.
