    Default Winter Planning

    Hi folks

Planning for the winter and was wondering if anyone knew where i could pick up a couple of steel wheels for the vec c for a reasonable price? Not worried about tyres on them as i want to get snow tyres put on them. Two should suffice as they only need to be on the drive wheels i know

    Cheers
    Tony

Scrappers would be best bet or ebay. Unless they're local though, delivery would be expensive.

Some off an Astra would maybe fit? Might be easier to source than Vectra ones.

sometimes on ebay you will find a couple of vx structure wheels, they look like alloys with the trims on

Yeap, much cheaper if you can get the bits now before the prices get thrown through the roof because of demand

I guess a look at the local scrap yards could yield some good results, thanks for the tip

I just got my winter tyres sorted as per this thread here

    http://www.vectra-c.com/forum/showth...t=winter+tyres

Goodyear UltraGrip 7+ and had to get them shipped over from Germany.

I wont run the VXR in the snow, but the Fiat 500 will be run through winter on these UltraGrip 7+ tyres, so I'm very interested to see how they get on.

Knowing my Fiat uses the Ford Ka platform I hunted around for some steel wheels and found a company who takes them off Ford Ka's to upgrade them to alloys.

They sold me a set of 4 brand new 14" steels for £15 each plus £15 shipping next day delivery. So £75 for a brand new set of 4 rims.

    ^^^^ Agreed

You must put 4 winter tyres on as they will have way more cornering grip than the standard tyres. Recipe for disaster if you mix the grip levels on corners
