speed and revs in gear 2

I am looking for a 'benchmark' to compare diesel with petrol and would be interested to hear from anyone with a Diesel turbo engine who could give the following information. My 1.8 (petrol) at 3000 revs in gear 2 does 30mph. I know it depends upon gearing etc and it possible to work everything out from one reliable data point, but is my speed/revs ratio in gear 2 more or less the same for diesel engine cars? Any info (including engine type!) would be much appreciated.

A diesel car will basically produce the same speed with lower revs - simply because they (diesels) don't rev as high.

Just been out and checked for you dude. My 1.9 CDTi 150 -

2nd gear @ 3000rpm = 34mph
3rd gear @ 3000rpm = 51mph

My car is Tech2'd for 235/35/19's and I'm running 225/35/19's.

Thanks for the info aja. One further question - when pushing it for max acceleration at what speed do you change up from 2nd to 3rd?
