    Default Signum Auto gearbox issues

I've got a Siggy 3.2 with an Auto box.

The last couple of times I have driven it, it seems to be a bit harsh when downchanging and slowing down at the same time.

It also seems a bit slow to kick down when accelerating.

I have searched on here and found alot of people say to get the gearbox fluid changed and also update the software on the gearbox.

For updating the software, do I need to supply the garage with the Security code? (not got a clue where the card has gone!)

Whats a rough amount I should expect to pay for a gearbox oil change and a software update?

Vauxhall will probably be the only place that can do the update and should be able to access the ecu ok.

i do believe when she moved the seat the gearbox automatically went into " woman mode "

    symptons of this are

    harsh gear changes
    unecessary revving of engine
and the car loses all ability to park !!!

I believe that auto gearboxes of that vintage had issues with the transmission oil and the engine coolant mixing due to a rubbish cooler design. Do a search on it and you should find some info.

I spoke to the garage today who said the same thing.

Its booked in on Thursday, having gearbox oil changed, and engine and gearbox ecu updates.

All for the lovely price of £60 ???

Also having the rear suspension links (banana shaped things) replaced for £170

Sorry it took a while getting back to you.
Ok - I had the same symptoms , but it also developed into a slight clunk on the change.
Lost drive all of a sudden , then back again the next minute.
I changed the fluid twice in two weeks , but it was too late and the gearbox had completely b47753d itself up , there were bands and teeth everywhere when I stripped it.
The box is an aisin warner , and yes it has issues with the gearbox fluid and coolant mixing.
You can spot it a mile off as the fluid will look like strawberry milkshake , rather than dark red .
Vx did issue a recall , and mine had apparently had the seals replaced 2 years earlier.
It's my opinion that the box just is not suitable in the keeping of the 3.2 v6 power delivery/torque.
My advice would be don't pay too much money out at this point in time , as a full rebuild is in the region of £1800 .
Maybe look into a warranty , or look at trading the car on sharpish .
That's just my opinion / advice after the hassle I endured over 3 months with a 3.2 v6 on an 03 plate.
    Good luck mate.

The box is fine for the 3.2, but the very poor standard cooler and lack of proper full ATF changes are what kills it. Fit an aftermarket cooler and do a full ATF flush every 2 years (and if you really want to spoil it add an inline magnefine filter) and it should last the lifetime of the engine.
