Default Oil & filter change in 150cdti

Looking to save myself some £££'s as i have water pump & belt, service & first MOT to pay for soon

However i always check levels etc, filters are fine (fuel filter replaced less than 10K ago) but i am yet to perform my own oil and filter change

To save some wonga, i might do it myself, can anyone tell me where the filter is located and also the sump plug. i am fairly confident at diy so dont think it will be an issue

Also does anyone know the part number for the sump plug washer as i will replace this

    Cheers lads

The oil filter is at the back of the engine near the bottom. Its a cartridge type that sits in a alloy housing.

I think its a 32mm spanner/socket you need to undo it.

You need one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/32mm-Oil-Filte...item48412d4b77

Also you need to get the car raised (obviously) enough to get underneath as you need to remove the under tray. There is a service flap on the under tray to get at the sump plug, this swings down but you won't have enough room for this as you can't get the car high enough.
I raised mine on the offside only, took the under tray off completly and did the job.
Watch out when you take the filter off as oil goes everywhere (plenty of soak up rags) there is a drain tube on the housing but still messy. Whilst the oil was draining I dropped the car level from the jack to make sure it complety drained.
I reused my sump plug, no problems.

Oh and BTW I used an axle stand as well as my jack, safety first if you're going under the car.

If you happen to have the Halfords 150 piece socket set, it comes with a 32mm socket.

Cut the bottom off a 2lt pop bottle and use it as a funnel when you take the oil filter off ;-)

Good luck, I bought the parts on Trade Club then got a local mechanic to fit them, he said the oil filter is a real pig as room is very tight.
