Mine tried the same when I went from a subaru 3.0 spec b legacy to a Mondeo ST tdci. I told them I wasn't paying anything and they matched it in the end.

Needless to say I will be looking else where next year. that was Adrian Flux too!
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

Flamin' crooks! £144/month for 3 months so that's £432 for 3 months of insurance on top of what you've already paid them. I'd cancel and go elsewhere, it's probably cheaper.

I paid less than that for a full year on a 2.8V6T

I just don't understand insurance companies. I phoned Direct Line today for a quote. Although I have my house and trade insurance with them they wouldn't come down by another £8 to match my best car quote!

    Insurers hey,

Girlfriend insurance up for renewal this month so I decided to have a Google,

Due to being an import and on a private reg for just over a year, many of the websites would not show the car ”Toyota Mr-s Roadster" and said to call them, so I got a tad ****ed off and called the company that I am insured with ”Sainsbury’s" with “Esure” as underwriters and asked them if I could get a quote with them, and I clearly said that I was just shopping around.

To start the chap was ever so friendly,

Then 1 minute into the chat he ask if I had a Sainbury’s card, to what I reply that I did not know were it was but was not bothered with the points.

The guy started to say that he could not go ahead if I did not had the card with me to what I said I DO NOT NEED THE POINTS, and he keep on going on about on how I needed to have the card so I could proceed with the insurance because at a later stage I would not be able to get those same points or add a card to the policy.

This went on for about a minute or so until I clearly told him that I shop at Tesco and could not remember the last time I went into a Sainsbury’s shop so therefore I do not need the points, just a quote for the car, and as soon as he started to speak about the ****** card I again asked him this,

    - Are you telling me that without a Sainsbury’s Points card I am unable to get a car insurance quote!!

    His answer:
-Yes, sir. I am unable to provide you with a car insurance quote without adding the Loyalty card to the system.

    My final answer:
Well then I am finishing this conversation since there is no point of talking to you and will clearly look some were else.

    And hung up the phone.

Now, since when do you need a loyalty card to insure with Sainsbury’s!

Needless to say I went elsewhere for insurance, lol.
