Unhappy Front Anti roll bar snapped!

Coming back from Tesco earlier today, hear a strange knocking. So I 've pulled over and had a look through the alloys and behold, the ARB has snapped just in front of where the Bar goes through the bush... So, I've abandoned the car at the mother in law's till I can get it fixed.

There is also what I think to be thick black grease (doesnt seem to be oil) over the bar and on the bottom of the steering track rods.

Now, I know this isnt a job I can do myself, it apparently involves removal of the subframe but does anyone know how much this is gonna cost me?

    Completely gutted

    You 100% sure it's broken?

The black grease sounds like you may have a burst inner cv boot

Well I can grab the bottom of the drop link, wiggle it about as it has a chunk of metal attached to it and you can see where its snapped off lol. I think it may have hit the cv at some point.

No worries mate, thats an unusual one tbh

Just wondering if you could change it without removing the sub frame, Hardest bit would be getting the curved ends through the gaps (shouldn't be much of a problem with the old one though )

According to the manual of haynes, subframe needs removing. That said it also instructs a removal of the exhaust system.

If I, say, remove the offending end and the drop link, will it be drivable to a gara.e? The offside end of the arb is still solid and doesn't move an inch

Haynes says alot of things but there are easier ways sometimes

If you were to remove both drop links then the car should be ok to drive to a garage as long as there is nothing to foul drive shafts or steering arms
