Sounds like the DMF, if not then it could be the clutch throw-out bearing.

Its a defo on the DMF, these are such a user defined failure as some people can get cars that will run over 100,000 miles others have them fail before 30,000 if driven in a manner that stresses the flywheel. Add in one potentially weak OEM made unit and it is a recipe for disaster.

If mine is anything to go by, I would save up and then get it done. They don't seem to fall apart as common myth would have you believe. I know, mine has seen over 100k of rattling.

I don't like to paint a rosey picture but I can say my opinion is based on my own experience. The noise gets annoying more than anything else, although if finance permits m8 just get it done, or stat saving now.

Some clutch/transmission specialists will replace the whole lot for about £700 (clutch and DMF). Vx want £1,500 which is total nonsense to me when a specialist will do the same or a better job as it's in their field.

PM hairy31 he had his done in Bradford for about that price, and I'm sure he was very pleased with the service and workmanship.
