Default Noob with a 2005 2.2 SRI Vectra

    Hi

My name's Phil and I've recently bought a 2005 plate Vectra 2.2 SRI in silver as a bit of a project!

    List of problems:

    Timing Chain Snapped/Possible Tensioner
    Broken front Coil Spring
Rear brake pipe over tank heavily corroded
    ABS Light on
    Battery Light on
    Brake Light Switch Warning on

So far I've resolved the timing chain issue, it had slipped due to a bolt on one of the guides working loose! A full new chain kit from Autovaux and she fired up perfectly

Changed the coil spring for a genuine Vauxhall SRI lowered spring.

Changed the brake pipe that runs beside the fuel tank (not fun)

Resolved the ABS light with a dodgy connector on the N/S/F and re-wired from the sensor to the multiplug under the car on the N/S/R sensor!

She absolutely flew her MOT with this done so happy days!

I only have the Battery Light and Brake Light switch warning to resolve!

Welcome along matey, broken springs are common on the vectra, most go for aftermarket lkike Eibach, they never snap, check the alternator for the battery light, alternator is another common fault.. also, go to a dealer and get the fuel pressure regulator checked, its on recall so wont cost and get handbrake recall done at the same time matey... HTH

    Welcome mate

Brake light switch is a 10 min job, most prob its been not set correctly, should set you back about £10 from the dealers

Its easier to snap the old one out and just push the new one in and let the brake pedal up slowly

Cheers mate, I've changed at least 7 or 8 springs on different C's and Signums, I've usually found the front springs break due to the crappy strut top mountings! I want to keep this one original, it handles great as it is and the spring was under £50 with the trade discount at the stealers so not all bad!

I actually owned another 2.2 a wee while back now

Thanks for the advice on the laternator but I fear me jump starting the car may have done some damage ratrher than the alternator, although I'm hoping the brake light switch problem is related.

Thanks, much appreciated, I'm not 100% the switch is at fault though. I reset the fault code with Opcom and then the brake lights work with no warning for a few pumps of the pedal, then the warning comes back again and the brake lights stop working, reset it again and again and same procedure every time, strange
